MARCS had the honor of hosting the maiden flight of Tom Miller’s Cessna. His son and current MARCS member Robert Miller provided the following story about the airplane.
Dr. Tom began building his Top Flite Cessna 182 just before and after his wife Ruth passed away. He is 87 years old and it was compiled after 2 1/2 years. He built his first balsa plane 80 years ago at age 7 and won his first balsa rubber band indoor free flight competition at age 11.
The Cessna was brought to the MARCS field to have the president of the club Marc Stermer trim it out and test fly it. Marc loved it.

MARCS would like to thank everyone for coming out to our event and enjoying what turned out to be a beautiful day with friends and family. If you couldn’t make it this year below is a video recap of the day.
Recently MARCS had someone donate a Great Planes/Tower Hobbies PT-40 to the club. We weren’t sure if it had ever been flown but we did know it was in storage for a while. Our club president Marc refurbished the engine and did a little body work. Today we got to fire it up for the first time.
This airplane will be used to train new pilots and will be available to fly with a buddy box during our annual memorial fun fly on June 2nd.
